My Practice

Hi, I'm Ashley (she/her/hers) and I'm a Social Worker and therapist, working with individuals, couples and families in St. John's, NL, Canada.

I am a registered social worker, in good standing, with the Newfoundland and Labrador College of Social Workers, holding both a Master of Social Work (MSW) and a Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) degree from Memorial University. I have over 14 years of social work experience, working alongside folks in a variety of practice settings across the public and private sectors.

My practice stems from a trauma-informed, strengths-based approach, with a focus on creating safe, inclusive and neuro-affirming spaces for all.  I am passionate about supporting adults, couples and families who are struggling with anxiety, depression, self-esteem, emotional regulation, grief/loss, gender-based violence, intimate partner violence, relationship difficulties and anger management. Through an intentional emphasis on creating a warm, welcoming, and judgement-free space, my goal is that my clients feel a sense of hope and find some sense of comfort in discussing and exploring the challenges they face, while discovering strategies to help navigate them.  An integration of a variety of interventions and skills are used in sessions and will vary for each client, but can include elements of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Solution Focused Therapy, EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT).

I am trained in the Gottman Method for working with relationships and couples and I am currently accepting both couples and individual clients. Receipts are provided for insurance reimbursement/tax purposes and your session can be covered by insurance under the registered social worker category.
